Mesopotamian Sports
- Polo- A form of polo was played by the Persians around 600 BC, but it is belived that they copied it from an earlier civilization. King Darius I used used the game as a training for his army. there were 100 men on each team and it was like a no holds barred game. It led to many injuries and some deaths. Later, the rules were changed to make it safer by having less people and more rules in the game.
- Wrestling- It is the most popular of the sports from that time. It is thought to be the oldest sport dating back to as far as 3000 BC.
- Other sports that the Mesopotamians did include contests in weight lifting, swimming Chariot racing, horse racing, archery, and hunting.
